Editor's Thoughts:

Probably a lot of LVR members spent last Easter weekend with family, some likely with children and grandchildren.

But then, many of you probably didn't.

Luckily, one of your Editors spend four action-filled days with adult children and a wide array of grandchildren (I think there were seven.) We heard a lot of the very-young-set humor, and we thought you'd appreciate hearing a little of it.

Here's a popular 1st-grade joke:

"What do you call a cow with no legs?"

Answer.... "Ground meat."

Further, "What do you call a cow with two legs?"

Answer.... "Lean meat."

And then there's.... "What do you call a dog with no legs?"

Answer... "It doesn't matter, he won't come."

OK. Maybe that's enough. I doubt that any of you would have the patience to sit through the one about the brick and the parrot.

But little kid humor is alive and thriving. Even if I don't exactly understand all of it.

April 21 (Saturday):  Garage Tour Progressive Dinner

Join your fellow LVR members for a unique culinary experience beginning at 2:00 pm

We are anticipating that our upcoming, "Garage Tour Progressive Dinner" is going to be one of our most exciting events of the year!  Four amazing homes have volunteered to host what we believe to be the first of many more in the future.  A lot of preparation and planning is underway to make this event incredible.   On our tour, we will enjoy a feast for the eyes as well as the stomach as we share amazing food together while enjoying the garages, cars and homes of our fellow members.
Best of all, this event will assist in raising much needed funds towards finding a cure for Cystic Fibrosis.  We will have lots of prize giveaways as well as several amazing silent auction items that have been generously donated.

We are looking for more items to include in our auction and your help would be greatly appreciated.  Some items you could consider donating would be, a weekend getaway in a vacation home you own or a timeshare stay you won't use, extra gift certificates you haven't used, a free service or discount on a service your business provides, a gift basket etc.  All donators will receive a receipt for tax purposes.  Please contact Tina Trewartha at 714-227-8716 with any questions and let me know ahead of time what you are so generously donating for this amazing cause, so I can prepare the bid sheet.

Registration is open.  Space is limited, so register early.

To register, click on this link: http://msreg.com/LVRPCAGarageTour  or copy and paste it into your browser.

August 2 - 6 (Thursday-Monday):  State Park Expedition Grande Finale

The Exalted Supreme Ruling Council has directed me to provide some information on each of our planned visits to six state parks in the Reno-Carson-Sparks area.  This week we review Washoe Lake State Park.

Lahontan State Recreation Area
The plan for our August adventure is starting to shape up. We will be stopping at Lahontan State Recreation Area on our drive up to Carson City on Thursday, August 2. One of the park entrances is within a couple of miles of our route of travel.  Lahontan is much like Washoe which was the subject of last week's article. A short stop is all that will be required.

Washoe Lake State Park is very close to Carson City, 5 miles of so. Perhaps one evening we grab a bucket of chicken or other favored picnic meal items and visit Washoe for a picnic dinner.

Lake Tahoe and Mormon Station Parks we will plan to do in one day - Friday, August 3rd. The Tahoe Park is about 90 minutes from Carson City. We can stop at Mormon Station on the way back to Carson City.  The City of Genoa is very close to Mormon Station and may well be work a stop, perhaps for dinner.  We can expect fairly heavy tourist traffic in both these areas.

That leaves Dayton and Fort Churchill parks left to see, both of which can be seen in one day. That leaves us a one day grace period (ed. note, and appropriately this will be Sunday!). With our visiting the area in prime tourist time, we may elect to adjust the time of a visit or two. If my prognostications are dead on, we could decide to drive over to Rye Patch on I-80 and do all 21 parks in the Passport or head home a day early.

Next week we will discuss the Lake Tahoe State Park.

The Exalted Supreme Ruling Council would like to profusely thank Doug and Jan Pearce for their reconnoitering of these 6 parks 2 summers ago. Their comprehensive notes have made the planning of this leg of the journey much easier than it might have been. Thanks Doug and Jan.

Just a gentle reminder we are leaving early on the morning of Thurs, August 2 and currently planning to return on Mon, August 6.

If someone would like to volunteer to assist me in getting all the paper work done for this adventure, please contact me at rcgreene1@yahoo.com or call me at 702 544-3839.

Exalted Grand Supreme Ruling Council would like to remind all Las Vegas region members that information on all Nevada State parks is available at PARKS.NV.GOV.

Perusing this website can help you understand what we are planning to see during our August adventure.

Happy reading!   In the coming weeks I will review each of the parks. But it is highly recommended that you some research on your own using the above link from the Exalted Grand Supreme Ruling Council.
