Editor's Thoughts: A conscience is what hurts when all your other parts feel so good. But I digress . . .
. . . it's been a very busy few weeks. September included something for just about everybody: Treffen Banff in the beautiful Canadian Rockies happened in mid-September with a bit of snow to add excitement to the drives. The last weekend in September included a DE event at Spring Mountain Motor Resort and Country Club and Rennsport Reunion VI at Laguna Seca on the Monterey Peninsula in California. Today many of us enjoyed the monthly breakfast at the Red Rock Country Club followed by another fantastically confusing Gimmick Rally. We have lots of pictures from these events thanks to our roving photographers and reporters. So read on -----------
Notices from the Board:
New members - The Las Vegas Region welcomes these new members to our club and look forward to seeing them at an upcoming event:
Reminder - Elections for the 2019 LVR-PCA board are coming up soon.
The nominating committee is currently looking at qualified candidates to be placed in positions on the ballot for the 2019 calendar year.
Nominations for election to the open offices must be received by October 1st. Ballots shall be distributed by November 1st. Ballots shall then be received until November 30th. Ballots received will be accepted, providing the voting individual is a member, eligible to vote, in good standing as listed on the Club roster provided by the PCA National Secretary. Ballots will be counted and election results announced at the last Executive Board meeting of the calendar year. Results will be posted in the Club newsletter soon as possible after the meeting.
In order to be able to vote in the upcoming LVRPCA Officer Elections for 2019, all members and associate members must have a valid e-mail address.
A lot of associate members do NOT have e-mail address listed with PCA National. In order to receive a ballot and vote, they must have one listed with their name. To fix this, the member must call PCA National and add an e-mail address for their associate member. Also, this is a great time for the member to check their own e-mail address and make sure it is correct.

Now . . . . on to the Coming (or just happened) Events
September 12 - 15: Treffen Banff
Once again, the Treffen North America Staff with the assistance of a local region, the Wild Rose Region, put on a exciting Treffen, this time in the breathtaking Canadian Rockies within Banff National Park. The headquarters hotel for this event was the historic Fairmont Banff Springs, a landmark in the picturesque alpine town of Banff, Alberta. Eh!
Treffen Spring 2019 will be in Santa Barbara April 3 - 6. These events sell out quickly, so mark your calendar and check back here beginning January, 2019 for registration dates.

September 22 - 23: Fall DE at Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch
The Fall Fling Driver's Education event was a renowned success with over 100 participants enjoying two days on the track. The following picture spread speaks for itself and we thank Tamela Kahle for the great pictures and summary of the weekend.
The third Drivers' Education this year for the Las Vegas Region - PCA was held on Saturday and Sunday, September 22 - 23, 2018. The weather and track conditions were perfect, with temperatures in the low 90's and virtually no wind. Drivers starting arriving on Friday evening. By early Saturday morning, the paddock was full and the roar of engines started. Thanks to the Todd Trimble and the guys from Trophy Performance all the cars had undergone a technical inspection and were ready roll after the mandatory drivers' meeting given by the Chief Driving Instructor, Scott Mann. Along with the safety briefing, Scott explained the Porsche Club of America's new head and neck device policy which will take effect in January of 2019.
Trophy Performance not only provided technical inspections and mechanical assistance throughout the entire weekend, but also had a great hospitality tent with an air cooler. During the two day event, there were over 120 people who participated as drivers, instructors and volunteers. Everyone had an incredible time and left with sunburned noses and huge smiles.
As the drivers were pulling out of Spring Mountain MotorSports Ranch, they must have been making a mental note that they needed to go on Motorsports.reg to sign up for the fourth Drivers' Education on Saturday and Sunday, November 17 - 18, 2018. We look forward to see you there!
September 27 - 30: Rennsport Reunion VI finished up last week
The four-day "family reunion" took place September 27-30 at legendary WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca near Monterey, California and was an incredible experience. Anything you could imagine being done to a Porsche was on display. The back parking lot had a line of GT3s, GT2s, and long noses as far as the eye could see (okay I am exaggerating a little bit), but the shear volume of cars was over the top. The number of specialty builders continues the grow - whether you want a 959 (for a mere $2.0MM) or an 80's 911 wide body with a TAG motor you can get it. Incredible financial times definitely deliver incredible cars.
In addition to the great cars sitting in the various parking lots at the venue, the racing was reasonably competitive. It was definitely fun to see the older vintage cars mixing it up. I spent time watching the climb up to the Cork Screw and down the CS, as well as many other great vantage points on the track. The track is great, but the elevation changes make it awesome.
If you did not go this year put it on the list for the future. You won't regret it. Here are some the unique cars at the event:

Before we go . . . Special Porsche for those Porsche Junior Members
You may have heard of a new program within the PCA - The PCA Juniors Program and have been wondering just what is it.
For Porsche it's not just the cars . . . it's the people and now it's not just grown-up people!
With the new PCA Juniors program, PCA is about the kids too!
And it appears Costco has joined the program with a mini-Macan at an affordable price for the very young Porsche drivers in your house.
All kidding aside (pun intended), check out the PCA website to learn how you can get your under 18 family members more involved in the club: Porsche Juniors.
