Editor's Thoughts:  It's always darkest before . . . daylight savings time .  .  .

.  . . but that doesn't happen for several months.  So, enjoy the holidays, the early sunsets, and save Saturday, January 5 for the first drive of the new year.  It promises to be a fun day with your Porsche and friends.  Remember, it's not just the cars, it's the people.  See "What's Coming Up" for detailds.

January 6:  First Member Brunch of the New Year

The RRCC does a great job in providing us with dedicated parking, a private room that is conducive to mingling and chatting with friends, and a great buffet.  Beginning with the new year, the monthly brunch will cost $20.00 per person.  This covers room rental, the buffet, made-to-order omelets, sausage, bacon, potatoes, muffins, fresh fruit, yogurt, coffee, orange juice, and tips for the staff and valet attendants (and, of course, the ubiquitous sales tax).

But, in order to continue to enjoy this venue, we have to do a better job of letting the RRCC know how many people to expect for the breakfast.  Look for a special edition of the newsletter in two weeks (December 30, 2018) reminding you of the coming breakfast and with a link to RSVP to Tamela Kahle of your plans to attend.  Or, if you already know you will be there, RSVP now to:  Tamela Kahle

      What Just Happened?

As we headed south, we encountered fog. After that burned off, we had sunshine and no wind. We collected items along the way and found clues through the desert. We ended up at the award-winning restaurant Symphony's at the Pahrump Valley Winery for lunch. Everyone was impressed with how Scott Mann had added his touch in modifying the Travelling Rally Trophy. Scott and Gwen Pearce tied for first place with Tamela Kahle and Scott Hatcher. Doc and Susan DeAndrea placed third. Gaudin Porsche donated wonderful Porsche Design items for the prizes. Heartfelt thanks to Scott Mann and Sherry Pelc for putting together such a great event.

We met, we socialized, we were briefed, we strategized, we coveted the trophy, and headed out.

A beautiful sunny, but cool day.
We negotiated cattle guards, read instructions and waved on the way out.
Some found a mysterious object, others searched, our hunt leader walked and we parked and posed.
On the drive, Roger Greene made friends with the Highway Patrol, desert oasis in Kelso.
We parked, we dined, displayed some goodies, and enjoyed the company.
We discussed our findings, mused about the day, smiled,
texted each other (or maybe checked on the '49ers scored), posed for pictures.
Days of Wine and Cheesecake, prizes from Gaudin, and winners raised their hands.
Wishes to all for a Happy Holiday Season and New Year.
And in the spirit of the season:
