NOVEMBER HPDE A HUGE SUCCESS!

By Michael Myers

The first Three-Day DE (Drivers Education) event at Spring Mountain was a huge success.  We got to drive on a new track!  The Charleston Peak track recently opened and this was the first opportunity the PCA had to run on it.

On Friday, we ran our first “open track day.”  This gave our advanced drivers and instructors an opportunity to learn the new course.   This extra day seemed to be popular and we plan to have another three-day event in 2023.

On Saturday and Sunday, we ran our traditional run-groups.  There were nearly 100 registered drivers…. including 15 students.  Congratulations to these new drivers!  We look forward to seeing you back at the track again soon.

Spring Mountain was already a world-class facility and this new track keeps that standard.  With the fast corners, quick essess, some off-camber turns and quick-straights, all of the drivers, new and old, had a lot of fun.

Saturday night the club provided a Paddock-Pizza-Party.  Everyone enjoyed some hot pizza and swapped stories with new friends about the new track.

This event would not be possible without the help of many volunteers.  Myself as the DE chair, Brian Schmidt – the Chief Driving Instructor and Lisa DiSabatino – the registrar, and Barabra Barron as our volunteer coordinator collectively put in over a hundred hours for each event. Plus – there are members who give their time to help during the DE at the black-flag station, tech inspection, helping with lunch and at Safety-Check. I want to thank all of them……. the LV PCA would not be able to host these events without their help!

Here comes the shameless plug – we always need more volunteers… please reach out to me or Barbara Barron if you’d like to help the PCA continue to make these DE’s a success.  You’ll make some new friends, get a free lunch and you can get out on the track if you’re interested.

SAVE THE DATES!

Our next DE will be on March 18th  and 19th, 2023…. Details will be sent early 2023.

Also, pencil in May 27-28, October 7-8, and November TBD.
