Meet The Members…Craig & Di Shanklin…in Southern Utah

It began with a casual visit to a relatively new Porsche dealership on East Sahara in 1990 (Gaudin Porsche), one of those little decisions you make that can turn out to have major impacts on your whole life. That purchase of a 944 S2 Cabriolet has led us to a life full of interesting people, wonderful events and fun adventures. 

That initial Porsche has led to many others including currently a 718 Spyder, Spyder RS, 911 T, a Cayenne Transyberia and soon, a new Boxster GTS 4.0…three of the cars being Ruby Star…our favorite Porsche color. Through our involvement with the Porsche Club of America, we have made many many lifelong friendships. Most of our closest relationships and cherished memories are connected to owning a Porsche. We love attending national PCA events like Porsche Parade, Treffen or Werks Reunion as well as local PCA events. We have visited Porsche in Stuttgart and love introducing our friends to Porsche at one of the Porsche Experience Centers. We have been to PECLA many times and just a few weeks ago we visited PEC Atlanta and the new track with Atlanta friends. They bought a new Porsche days later! We relocated from Las Vegas to Southern Utah years ago and began organizing local Porsche activities, as a part of Utah’s Intermountain Region. 

However, the 5 hour drive between Southern Utah and Salt Lake City (where most of the PCA members live) meant few from Northern Utah would attend…but many from the Las Vegas region would. Over the years we have forged great relationships with the Las Vegas Region…Gary, Reid, Dana, Michael, Jordan, Paul and so many others… which finally prompted Southern Utah PCA members to change their region affiliation and join with LVR. We have all been so warmly welcomed (almost 90 members have transferred from Intermountain to LVR in the last month) and we look forward to many great events in Southern Nevada and Southern Utah attended by all LVR members.

When not involved with PCA and Porsches, we love to travel. We have visited over 130 countries…in fact we are writing this while in Paris. When at home we are active cyclists and triathletes. Craig is involved with many organizations including the Southern Utah Bicycle Alliance and St. George Active Transportation Committee while Di sits on the Board of Trustees of the St. George Regional Hospital. Both of us are involved as leaders of our large and active Prostate Cancer Support Group. We also hosted the successful PCA Cars, Coffee and Cancer charity event last Fall, with over 100 Porsches present, to raise funds for the Intermountain Cancer Center.

We look forward to meeting all the members of the Las Vegas Region. If you see a couple of Ruby Star Porsches…it’s probably us!
