Driven to Make a Difference: Volunteering within the Club and Local Community Programs

By Marnie Cameron

Volunteering is often seen as a selfless act—something we do for others. But talk to anyone who’s given their time to a cause, and they’ll tell you it gives back tenfold. This is especially true when your passions intersect with purpose. One unexpected yet powerful example? Volunteering within our very own Porsche Club of America (PCA) and similar community-driven programs.

Sometimes getting started is the hardest part but there are many opportunities within the LVR Porsche Club for those interested.  You can ask how to help when you attend an event, contact a board member if there is a particular event you would be interested in to see how you can help.  The club board meetings are open to all members and is a great way to pass on suggestions for events and to learn about upcoming events that will need volunteers.

Our club also helps our local community programs. We held a silent auction during our annual Winter Gala that helped a local USO program as well as a group of students who recently graduated from the Gaudin Technical program. We will continue to bring volunteer opportunities to club members with a focus on local programs.

Volunteering doesn’t just change the lives of those you help but it can transform you as well. You can connect with others who share your interests and values, forging lifelong friendships. Whether you’re sharing your time within the club or around the community every hour you give creates a ripple effect of positivity.

At first glance, the PCA might appear to be all about sleek engineering, roaring engines, and scenic drives. While that’s true, there’s also a lesser-known side to the club: a deep commitment to service and community. Across the country, PCA regions participate in charitable events, toy drives, fundraisers, car shows for causes, and mentorship programs.

Being a part of something like the Porsche Club means more than loving cars—it’s about loving the community that comes with it. When you combine your passion with purpose, incredible things happen. You don’t have to change the world overnight—just showing up is enough to spark change.
