The Georges Skip Town

SAYING GOODBYE!!!!

It is always hard to say goodbye to friends, but this one hits close to the heart.

We are saying goodbye to Peter George and his wife Jackie, who have decided to leave Las Vegas for cooler climes. They are moving to Sparks, Nevada, just outside of Reno.

I cannot say that I blame them, as I never intended to stay in Vegas for 28 years and hope that sometime before I leave the planet, I will move closer to them. To say I am envious is a gross understatement. But more importantly, I hate to see them leave the Valley. They are some of my favorite Porsche people.

As for Peter, I cannot say enough good about him. He has been a staunch supporter of the club and a great support to me as the new president. When Buddah left the HPDE, he selflessly volunteered to take over that position and helped to smooth out what could have been a really tough time for the program. Not only made sure that the transition was smooth, but under his leadership, he drove the first HPDE he oversaw to a record number of attendees. He also made sure that the remainder of the year was very well set and left the program in the capable hands of Brian Schmitt and Brad Cameron.

There are people you meet in life that you find friendship with, and there are others that find so much more in them. Personally, I have a deeper fondness for Peter as a fellow audiophile, boater, and someone who shares the same deep love for my hometown as I do. That does not happen every day. Add to that respect for his life and business acumen, advice, and the positive nerves and ideas he has brought to the club, and that is just a combination you can’t help but love. I will miss both at events, but I hope to stay in close contact and visit them when I make it up north a few times a year. I will try to plan at least one of the visits around the Tahoe Regatta 😉!

On behalf of the entire Las Vegas Region Porsche Club and from myself personally, thank you for all you brought to each and every one of us, and may your new home and new life in the north bring you all the happiness and great new adventures you richly deserve.
