This esteemed event, held in the picturesque coastal town of Monterey, California, serves as a celebration of Porsche’s automotive heritage. From classic vintage models to cutting-edge sports cars, the Werks Reunion showcases the pinnacle of what the iconic German automaker has to offer.

Upon arrival at the venue, attendees are greeted by an impressive array of Porsches, each exhibiting unique characteristics. Gaudin/Henderson Porsche emerged victorious in the preservation group, showcasing a remarkable 1988 944 Turbo S. These relatively limited-edition vehicles within the 944 range were exceptionally well-preserved, even bearing the distinctive window sticker. I promptly offered a substantial premium of $2,000 over the sticker price, demonstrating my appreciation for the vehicle’s exceptional condition. However, my offer was reportedly shy by approximately $38,000.

In addition to the car show, the Werks Reunion also features a marketplace where vendors sell a variety of Porsche memorabilia. Enthusiasts can browse through vintage posters, Porsche-specific art, and even original factory tools, all while engaging in conversations with fellow Porsche enthusiasts and sharing stories about their preferred vehicles. I acquired a new 70th-anniversary jacket, t-shirt, and baseball cap during this event.

Porsche consistently brings notable vehicles from its collection, and this year, we witnessed a truly exceptional one-of-a-kind car. Upon seeing it, I was astounded. Before me lay the singular Porsche 963 RSP LeMans Hypercar, which had been modified to meet street legal requirements for Mr. Roger Penske. As a LeMans Hypercar, it is an awe-inspiring vehicle. As a street car, it retains its original performance, capable of reaching speeds of 250 mph. Imagine commuting to work in a car that possesses such capabilities while enjoying a second cup of coffee. The rarified air and coffee would be an extraordinary experience.
