FROM THE PRESIDENT’S DESK – NOVEMBER 2025

Greetings to all our wonderful Porsche family!

October was filled with fun and exciting times. Let me share some of the activities that took place this month for those who missed them. These events are featured in this month’s newsletter.

FALL COLORS TOUR

The Fall Colors Tour in Utah (actually held the last weekend of September) was a great drive led by Ken Hollman. We wound through Utah from Hurricane (pronounced Hurakahn) all the way to Cedar City via Colorado City. We then drove up through the mountains to Duck Creek, where we were greeted with the stunning fall colors of yellow and orange as far as the eye could see. It was an absolutely wonderful drive, and we had a great turnout with 31 attendees. We’re already looking forward to it again next fall, and it’s only been a couple of weeks!

VOLUNTEER DAY AT JUST ONE STEP

We also had a Volunteer Day at the Just One Project, one of our charity partners. They distribute over 6 million pounds of food every year to the needy and 2,000 hot meals a month. Many of us from the board came out to help sort food, create boxes, and deliver the food to cars as they streamed through. I lost count of the cars, but they started at 8:00 a.m. and continued until 11:00 a.m. It was a privilege to assist in such a way, and we’ll be fundraising this year in addition to our volunteer work.

NEW MEMBER PICNIC

We held our annual new Member’s Picnic, welcoming not only our new members but also our Zone 8 Representative, Lori DeCristo. The turnout was great, and many people left with leftover BBQ—just one of the many reasons our members attend. It’s always wonderful to have a good turnout of our existing members to welcome the new crowd. I think this was one of the best turnouts of new members since I first attended as a new member.

On that note, I’ve been personally sending “Welcome from the President” letters to new members for the past two weeks. We seem to be growing every month, which is great. The board showed up in force for the event, and everyone had a great time.

A big thank you to Reid and Dan Smith, Mark Coronado, Ed Hanford, Brad Cameron, Jordan Godorov, Paul Jarrett, and Paula Lea for coming out to help set up and clean tables, serve food, check people in, and ensure everyone was taken care of. A very special thanks to Marnie Cameron for coordinating the setup and volunteers, and Tony and Cindy Affronti for arranging the BBQ from Road Kill Grill!

TRUNK OR TREAT AT TIVLOI VILLAGE

The event took place on Friday, October 24th. We were invited to collaborate with Scissors and Scotch on another event. They requested that we bring a few Porsches and let the kids trick-or-treat for candy from the trunks. We brought half a dozen cars and provided an abundance of candy (not exactly 2000 pounds, but close to 200 pounds). The event was a huge success, with over 4000 kids storming the venue! Unfortunately, we ran out of candy about half an hour before the event ended. We’ll be better prepared next year. The kids had a fantastic time and thoroughly enjoyed the Porsches. Whenever we contribute to ensuring a safe Halloween for 4000 kids, the LVRPCA is truly grateful.

SOUTHERN UTAH CHARITY CAR SHOW

This past weekend, another of our charities took place in St. George. A total of 71 cars, along with many generous individuals, gathered at the Dixie Technical School to raise funds, enjoy coffee, and admire the cars. The event raised over $8000.00, which will be used to support the Automotive Teach School and help young aspiring mechanics with essential items like steel-toed boots. I eagerly anticipate next year’s event.

NOVEMBER HPDE

We’re hosting our last HPDE of the 2025 on November 29th and 30th. Don’t miss out on this opportunity! It’s a great time to do an HPDE in cool weather, which is always the best time. We’ve had great turnout all year, and I’ll be driving. That might be a reason to stay away, but I’ll have Brian Schmidt as my instructor and mentor, so everyone else should be safe. I’ve already had four laps on the track, and they weren’t all that fast, but it’s still track time. 😂

CARS UND KAFFEE

This event had a fantastic turnout, and the weather was perfect. If you haven’t attended before, it’s a great low-key get-together primarily filled with Porsches and an intriguing array of other cars. We welcome everyone who wants to come, and we’ve seen Italian exotic cars, British sports cars, Japanese GTRs, and more. We also have old classic muscle cars, off-road rigs, and even classic motorcycles. Coffee is available for purchase.

Every last Sunday of the month from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., we meet at the Good Wolf parking lot and Imperial Street in the Commerce in the Arts District.

Until next month, consider volunteering and keep driving. Also, keep an eye out for our new blasts as we’re working on some additional drive events.
