We Got Air!

Two dedicated Las Vegas PCA members recently proved that true Porsche passion knows no borders. JP and Romi Mirza loaded up their air-cooled classics and made the long haul from Las Vegas to Meridian, Idaho, for the second annual Idaho Air event on May 2, 2026.

Romi piloted his hardcore Porsche 934 race car, while JP cruised in his striking Ice Green 1979 Porsche 930. The journey itself was an adventure, covering hundreds of miles through changing landscapes before arriving in the Pacific Northwest for what turned out to be a spectacular celebration of air-cooled Porsches.

A Stunning Display in Meridian

Hosted at the Ten Mile Campus in Meridian, Idaho, just outside Boise, Idaho Air 2026 delivered exactly what enthusiasts crave: more than 120 air-cooled Porsches on display, live music from The Canyon Kids, fresh coffee and bites from local vendors, and a vibrant community atmosphere.

Organizers Kelly and Daria Smith created a welcoming event that highlighted some of the finest classic Porsches the Northwest has to offer.

JP and Romi were treated to a sea of pristine 356s, early 911s, 930s, 914s, and other air-cooled icons. The Saturday show featured awards, great food, and plenty of lively conversation among like-minded owners. It was a perfect reminder of why these machines continue to captivate generations of enthusiasts.

Sunday Mountain Drive: The Real Highlight

While the static display was impressive, the real magic happened on Sunday during an epic mountain drive.

Participants wound through scenic, twisting backroads near Idaho City, surrounded by rushing brooks and snow-capped peaks. For Las Vegas drivers accustomed to desert heat and long straight highways, the experience was unforgettable.

“The roads were spectacular for putting our Porsches to the test. We just don’t get that kind of view of rushing brooks and snow-capped peaks down here in Vegas.”

The combination of crisp mountain air, challenging curves, and world-class machinery made for an ideal weekend behind the wheel.

Why Idaho Air Matters

Now in its second year, Idaho Air has quickly established itself as one of the premier air-cooled Porsche gatherings in the Pacific Northwest. With limited display spots, an emphasis on quality over quantity, and a strong sense of community, the event offers something special that larger shows sometimes lose.

For JP and Romi, the trip reinforced the joy of long-distance Porsche travel and the value of connecting with enthusiasts across different regions.

“We can’t wait for next year.”

Las Vegas PCA members interested in similar adventures should keep an eye on the Idaho Air website and consider making the trip in 2027. Whether you trailer a show car or drive your classic the entire way, events like this remind us why we love these machines and the roads they take us on.

Safe travels, and keep the air-cooled flag flying high! 🏁
