FROM THE PRESIDENT’S DESK – JULY 2026

Full Speed Into Summer

Greetings to all our wonderful Porsche family!

June certainly turned into an interesting month.

It started hot, cooled back down, heated up again, and then surprised us during the final week with temperatures dropping below 90 degrees.

Can anyone say “roller coaster month?”

WEBSITE

Our new website is officially up and running, and what an improvement!

We are incredibly excited about the launch and want to thank Farhaad Sheikh for all his hard work throughout this transformation.

As with any major project, it has been time-consuming, and we encountered a few roadblocks along the way. However, the result is a cleaner, improved platform that better represents our club and community.

Check it out at:

We are still experiencing some delays with Desert Drives due to interfacing and hosting challenges, but progress continues. Be sure to visit the new website and explore the updates.

HPDE

Our HPDE program is officially on summer break, but mark your calendars because our next event weekend is scheduled for October 3rd and 4th.

Watch for registration opening soon.

Fall events always fill quickly once the cooler temperatures return, so don’t wait too long to secure your spot.

As I always say, if you have not attended at least one HPDE event, you are truly missing out.

The instruction is outstanding, and you will learn how to properly enjoy your Porsche’s performance in a safe and controlled environment. It is tremendous fun, builds confidence, and teaches skills that benefit everyday driving.

Not quite ready to commit to the entire weekend?

Try Taste of the Track!

For only $125, you will experience a couple of 30-minute sessions from the passenger seat with one of our certified instructors. It is a fantastic introduction to what HPDE is all about.

Come check it out!

TOURS

Reid Smith and Richard Cruz are continuing to organize our exciting Lake Tahoe Tour, scheduled for September 7th through the 11th.

The drive is filling quickly, but rumor has it that additional spots may become available. We will provide updates as details develop.

As a Tahoe native, I cannot think of a better Porsche adventure. I am more than happy to help lead a second group if demand allows.

Keep watching for official announcements, and don’t get left behind!

I will also be leading a two- to three-day Flagstaff Tour from July 24th through 26th.

Watch for the email blasts. Two have already gone out, and additional reminders will continue weekly until the event.

DAY DRIVES

At this time, we do not have any Day Drives scheduled for June or July.

If you have a great route idea or would like to help organize a drive, please let me know.

CHARITY

We are continuing our efforts to expand and strengthen our charity involvement this year.

Currently, we are focusing on Gaudin Technical Institute and exploring opportunities with the Music Academy as two primary beneficiaries.

Please remember these organizations rely heavily on donations and community support.

Anything that benefits the future of our younger generations benefits us all.

CARS UND KAFFEE

Held on the last Sunday of every month, Cars und Kaffee continues to attract a fantastic group of automotive enthusiasts.

Everyone is welcome, and we continue to see an incredible variety of vehicles, including:

  • Italian exotics
  • British sports cars
  • Japanese GT-Rs
  • Classic muscle cars
  • Off-road builds
  • Classic motorcycles

And, of course, plenty of Porsches!

Coffee is available for purchase.

Time:
7:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.

New Location:
Parking lot at Imperial Street and Main Street
Arts District

We have moved just east of our previous Good Wolf alley parking area. The former space has been transformed into a beautiful courtyard, so we will now gather in the adjacent lot.

CHEF WILLIAM’S RED ROCK MOTOR CLUB

Our very own Chef William hosts a monthly gathering on the second Monday of every month at Red Rock Country Club.

The event starts at 5:00 p.m. and is open to everyone.

A great group always attends, bringing wonderful cars, great conversations, and plenty of Porsche enthusiasm.

Food and beverages are available for purchase in the clubhouse.

Be sure to check it out!

ESPRESSO AND EXOTICS

Espresso and Exotics is another great addition to our Sunday automotive calendar.

With three food establishments nearby, grabbing coffee or breakfast while enjoying the cars could not be easier.

This event takes place on the second Sunday of every month.

Time:
7:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.

Location:
Mothership Coffee at The Bend
8740 W. Sunset Rd., Unit F-150

The organizers are great people, and yes, they are Porsche people too!

BYLAWS AND SOUTHERN UTAH ANNEXATION

No news is good news.

We have not received any updates from PCA regarding the requested changes or the Southern Utah annexation process.

Until we hear otherwise, it remains business as usual.

GENESIS OF THE FABLED 911

Be sure to check out Part Three of my series exploring Porsche’s evolution from the 356 to today’s 992.2 generation.

This month, we examine the “bumper” and G-body cars and continue through the legendary 993 generation.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

We are always looking for members willing to volunteer for board positions, assist at events, or chair special projects.

Please consider sharing some of your time and talents to help our club continue to grow and flourish.

Thank you for supporting this incredible Porsche community.
