Joe and Denise Marcella have been Porsche Club members since 2019. It was Denise who first discovered the wonders of Porsche by accident. In 2015, Denise was wandering around the then Gaudin Jaguar/Porsche parking lot while Joe was getting his Jaguar F-type washed. She fell under the spell of an Orange 2008 Cayman S Sport. She quickly re-learned how to drive a stick, traded in her Volvo C30, and never looked back.
Eventually, Joe too came to his senses and traded in his Jaguar F-type for a bright Yellow 2017 718 Boxster S. In spite of what some Porsche purists say, the 4 cylinder turbo charge 350 hp engine took the Boxster performance to a new level. Not to be outdone, Denise upgraded to a Miami Blue 2019 718 Cayman GTS . With that came a challenge to fit four cars in a three car garage in their Aliante home. Thanks to a fellow Porsche club member, they were referred to a company that installs car lifts and now their garage is the envy of the neighborhood.
Joe comes from New York and Denise from Los Angeles. Joe studied at Temple University and Denise partied at U.C. Berkeley. They met in a boardroom in Las Vegas. Joe was the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the City of Las Vegas. Denise was a Contracts Specialist and assigned to manage his department’s procurements. Fast forward, Denise continues to work for the city and Joe is enjoying retirement. Between the two, they have five grown and launched children scattered across the country.
Joe originally came to Las Vegas in 1967 to serve at Nellis Air Force Base. His experience in flying combined with aptitude for all things mechanical drives his passion for building and flying remote control planes. On the other hand, Denise likes learning challenges and is taking a course in Japanese (Konnichiwa!). In addition, Denise loves to drive and periodically participates in the Driver’s Education track events at Spring Mountain Motor Speedway. For them, the Las Vegas Porsche club members and events have added significantly to their Porsche community experience.
