PCA LOVEBOAT

By John and Nita Burrows

1st day in Fort Lauderdale

Embarkation meant a quick shuttle from the hotel to the dock where we were met by guides to the PCA entrance, bypassing a large group of other passengers On to our cabin to get unpacked and settled for the cruise. After a while, we joined others for cocktail social. Then it was time to find where the fore, aft, starboard and port parts of the ship were.

(FYI, after it was all over, it seemed like everything we wanted to be a part of was always at the other end of the ship)

2nd day at sea

The day started with how we were getting around with explanations of navigating at sea (no landmarks) and technical aspects of moving the ship. After lunch, was “Picnic with your Porsche” and a culinary demonstration with the Celebrity Chefs. The evening was given to the “First Porsche (Diecast) Concours at Sea with judging and awards.

3rd day at sea

Most of the day was for seminars by Tim McNair – Pebble Beach Detailing Secrets You Can do at home and Ramsey Potts – Porsche Models at Auction. How you can benefit. This evening was the PCA Group Dinner for all the ZoneFest Participants, followed by a social hour(s) and the “Read my Lips” competition. Dancing and prizes included.

4th day at St Maarten Island

On-shore to the local shops and the flea markets. Some opted for the various tours around the island. After dinner PCA hosted Movies under the stars showing “Top Gun Maverick” and “Fast and Furious 2”. Sail overnight to the next port.

5th day at St Kitts Island

We were given Free Time to experience the island. Visit more of the flea markets, local shops or go on your choice of small tours. Back aboard for a Meet/Greet cocktail social with the Celebrity Chef. Sail overnight to the next port.

6th day at San Juan

We started the day with “Wheels and Expresso” hosted by the San Juan PCA region, followed by Free Time to Tour the island. Aboard once again, it was time for the PCA Themed dinner for all the ZoneFest Participants. After dinner was the PCA Exclusive Comedy Night. Sail overnight to the next port.

7th day at Grand Turk Island

After breakfast, we disembarked for a PCA Dedicated Zone on the beach with music and games. Fun in the sun with a dedicated band and nearby hospitality stand. After dinner was a social hour(s) with Hollywood Hiccups

8th day at sea

Our morning was spent getting ready for the week to end. The evening was the Wrap Up Cocktail Reception with a live band. During this time, Vu Ngyuen asked if there should be a second cruise with a different venue. This was met with a resounding “Yes” which included many suggestions for the venue.

9th day. Back to Fort Lauderdale and then toward home.

With all said and done, it was an enjoyable time spent with the 600 or so

PCA members from around the country. For a first time event, it was

well planned and presented. Congratulations and a big “Thank You” to

the PCA National staff that made the cruise successful.
