Luft 9 Recap

Luftgekühlt 9, the annual celebration of air-cooled Porsche vehicles, took place this year on the historic Mare Island in the San Francisco Bay. Mare Island is a unique location for an event like this, as it is a 3.5-mile retired naval shipyard that has seen it all, from sailing ships to submarines, and now Porsche. The industrial backdrop of Mare Island provided an excellent setting for the event, with the rusted metal of the old shipyard buildings providing a striking contrast to the sleek lines of the Porsche vehicles on display.

Luftgekühlt 9 was a celebration of Porsche’s history and the iconic air-cooled models that are so beloved by enthusiasts. The event featured over 400 Porsche vehicles, ranging from the classic 356 to the modern 911. Each car on display was a work of art, meticulously restored and maintained by its owner. Attendees were treated to more than just beautiful cars, as the event also featured live music, food trucks, and a variety of vendors selling everything from Porsche merchandise to artisanal coffee. There was even a special exhibit showcasing the history of Mare Island itself, giving attendees a chance to learn more about the unique location that was hosting the event.

In addition to the many attendees who flew in from all over the world, there were also some notable individuals who made the journey to Luftgekühlt 9 in San Francisco by car. JP, Chef, Duane, Mental, and Romi, a group of Porsche enthusiasts from Las Vegas, made the 8-hour drive to attend the event. For them, the road trip was as much a part of the experience as the event itself. They enjoyed the scenic drive up the California coast, taking in the beautiful views and stopping along the way to appreciate the natural beauty of the state. Of course, they were also excited to finally arrive at Mare Island and see all of the amazing Porsche vehicles on display.

Luftgekühlt 9 brought together car enthusiasts from all over the world to appreciate the beauty and history of air-cooled Porsche vehicles, and it did so in a truly unique and memorable location. With each passing year, Luftgekühlt continues to grow and evolve, but it always remains true to its roots as a celebration of Porsche’s rich history and the community of enthusiasts that love these cars.
