Meet the Members – Michael Dugan

Hi, I’m Michael Dugan. I’ve been a member of PCA and LVR for 9 years. Needless to say, I am car person. I know I date myself by telling you that as a kid I clipped out car pictures each fall as new models were announced. I had envelopes full. At 8 I knew the model of each car Detroit produced and would point out the cars, ad nauseum, when with friends. Remember the push button transmission? The brand-new T-Bird? The turbine powered Chrysler? The Jaguar XKE introduction?

My first introduction to Porsche was by Bob Holbrook (one of the first Porsche dealers in the US). Look but don’t touch those cars. My first drive in a Porsche was in a 1990 Turbo. It was driven by a madman who loved to race the freeways of the Bay Area at 100+ mph. (Scared me to the point I avoided the idea of buying one).

Finally, in 2014 I bought a 2012 Black Edition Carrera assisted by a newish sales person at Gaudin Porsche- Paul Jarrett. I still have it and love it.  (I consider Paul a great friend). It’s now Joyce’s daily driver. I next owned a 1983 Porsche SC which I totaled 2 years later (the good Lord was sitting on my shoulder). I then bought a 1987 Porsche Carrera, a car that was built for a customer in Japan (but had left hand drive) then found an owner in Calgary. I bought it from a private party and drove it to Las Vegas. To say I love this car is an understatement. Don’t drive it much but can’t stand the idea of selling it. I swore I was done buying cars until I saw the new mid-engine Corvette C8. ‘Nuff said.

I joined LVR/PCA in 2014 and have been active ever since, serving in almost every capacity in the club leadership. I joined to meet like-minded folks and have been delighted by the great friendships I have made.

Lastly and most importantly, my mate is Joyce Stacey (if you’ve been to a LVR function where she is attending, I am most confident you have met her). She is my strength and the happiest spot in my life. We a BIG Golden Knights fans.

I encourage you to get involved in the club- you will be rewarded many times over for any time spent with nice people, great cars and interesting events. Want to join an event- just show up, you’ll enjoy it. Have an idea for a function? Come share it with the Board. You may end up leading the charge.
