In June, Southern Utah LVR members hosted a packed weekend of summer Porsche fun. On Friday, June 20, a mix and mingle…”Cars and Cocktails”…was held at the new Strap Tank Brewery in St. George. The themed two-story micro-brewery is named after the famous Harley Davidson motorcycle but is loaded with other great memorabilia, most provided by the reality TV series American Pickers, including a full size WW I airplane. Over 45 LVR members enjoyed appetizers, drinks and dinner….and lots of great conversation. With almost 50/50 participation, it was a great merging of Las Vegas and Southern Utah members. The brewery pulled out all the stops to host the Las Vegas Region and provided free appetizers, their best staff and reserved VIP parking for all Porsches. This fun event was coordinated by PCA member Diane Shanklin.

Then many Las Vegas members spent the night at one of the two hotels that are immediately adjacent to the brewery.

On Saturday morning, June 21, over 20 PCA members (in 14 Porsches) assembled for the “Cool Country Road Tour.” After a detailed route review and safety talk by tour leader Stuart Shanklin, the group then had a spirited drive along the backroads of Southern Utah leading us from St. George through Enterprise, Cedar City, Cedar Breaks National Monument and into the mountains along curvy roads for our lunch stop at Brian Head. While it was over 100 degrees in the desert, when the group arrived in Brian Head it was a chilly 60 degrees with most grabbing for their sweatshirts. Members were free to enjoy all the lunch options and resort amenities and alternative mountain drives on their own following the completion of the organized tour.

This weekend of summer Porsche fun in Southern Utah was perfect…and really illustrated the PCA motto…”It’s not just about the cars…it’s about the people”.
