SO. UTAH CHARITY EVENT FOR DIXIE TECH COLLEGE

So, this past weekend, I and a group of Las Vegas individuals traveled to St. George to support the annual Charity event organized by the Utah group. The event aimed to benefit the Automotive Technology School at Dixie Technology College.

The event was an absolute success, meticulously planned by the incredible husband-and-wife team of Di and Craig Shanklin. Their dedication to the club is truly remarkable, especially considering their global travels.

Over 70 cars participated in the event, generating a substantial amount of money, exceeding $8000.00 (donations are still coming in). Every penny raised directly supports the Automotive Technology School, helping new students with essential supplies, particularly the required steel-toed boots that cost around $250 a pair. These supplies alleviate the financial burden for students and significantly contribute to their future as Porsche mechanics. (Hopefully they will make their way to a Porsche shop 🤞🏻)

The volunteers, one of the largest and most dedicated groups in the club, performed exceptionally well in handling various tasks, including parking, staging, and the registration booth. Coffee and an array of delectable pastries were provided, and Henderson Porsche generously offered a full crew and approximately half a dozen cars, including their national-winning preservation 944 Turbo S. (I wish I could afford such a magnificent car!) It truly impressed everyone.

We had a fantastic tour of the facility, which was nothing short of impressive. The Auto Repair, Diesel Mechanics, and Body and Paint sections were all world-class. My personal favorite was the Body shop, equipped with a state-of-the-art PPG paint booth. Another delightful treat in this section was a series of custom-painted hoods done by each class, all signed by the students.

Everyone had a wonderful time at the event itself, but the prior evening’s cocktail social was equally enjoyable.

I want to express my deepest gratitude to all who attended and volunteered. Your contributions are truly remarkable, and it makes me incredibly proud to be the President of this club.
