Meet Dave and Jan Sunderhaft

Dave and his wife Jan have been PCA members for over 40 years. They bought a home in Henderson 1999 and immediately got involved with the Las Vegas PCA. It’s been a great club to make new friends and introduce us to all Las Vegas offers. The Club’s driving tours were very helpful introducing us to the region.

Their attraction to Porsches started in the mid ‘70s when they acquired a light blue 1964 356 Cab while living in Syracuse, NY. They have owned at least one Porsche ever since. The 356 was sold in 1983 in anticipation of the new 911 Carrera Cab. The Carrera cab was replaced in 1996 with a 993 C4S. Then joined for 10 years by a dedicated 944 S2 track car and later a ‘94 RS America. After those cars came his current ‘77 911S and his prize ‘92 968.

In June, Southern Utah LVR members hosted a packed weekend of summer Porsche fun. On Friday, June 20, a mix and mingle…”Cars and Cocktails”…was held at the new Strap Tank Brewery in St. George. The themed two-story micro-brewery is named after the famous Harley Davidson motorcycle but is loaded with other great memorabilia, most provided by the reality TV series American Pickers, including a full size WW I airplane. Over 45 LVR members enjoyed appetizers, drinks and dinner….and lots of great conversation. With almost 50/50 participation, it was a great merging of Las Vegas and Southern Utah members. The brewery pulled out all the stops to host the Las Vegas Region and provided free appetizers, their best staff and reserved VIP parking for all Porsches. This fun event was coordinated by PCA member Diane Shanklin.

Change Out That Flat Tire with Your Spare…Not So Fast!

By: Jordan Godorov

Back in 2005, Porsche started offering tire sealing gel as standard equipment on new vehicles from the factory. If you got a flat tire on your Boxster and wanted to swap it out with your spare, you were out of luck.

Fortunately, Porsche has provided an easier and quicker solution to get you back on the road, without getting your hands dirty from removing and replacing a tire. By providing a tire sealant gel and a portable air compressor that is powered by the 12-volt auxiliary outlet in your car, you are able to put a liquid sealant in the tire, air it up, and be one your way relatively quickly. In order to use the [...]

Volunteering is often seen as a selfless act—something we do for others. But talk to anyone who’s given their time to a cause, and they’ll tell you it gives back tenfold. This is especially true when your passions intersect with purpose. One unexpected yet powerful example? Volunteering within our very own Porsche Club of America (PCA) and similar community-driven programs.

Sometimes getting started is the hardest part but there are many opportunities within the LVR Porsche Club for those interested.  You can ask how to help when you attend an event, contact a board member if there is a particular event you would be interested in to see how you can help.  The club board meetings are open to all members and is a great way to pass on suggestions for events and to learn about upcoming events that will need volunteers.

Our club also helps our local community programs. We held a silent auction [...]

Intro – For those who are not familiar Craig and Di Shanklin are our dear friends from the Souther Utah part of the region and they have made world wide travel an art form. It might be easier to say where these two fun loving kids have not been rather than try to list all the countries that they have been. They have been kind enough to allow me to share their travel blog with everyone. So I will be sharing random stories from their travels periodically. I hope you will enjoy the ride as much as I have.

Gary Lea President Las Vegas Region PCA.

Where in the world…are Craig & Di?

Uzbekistan was the heart of the Silk Roads…all roads led (or at least crossed) here. It became the hub of culture and trade for many centuries. However, the absolute hub was the legendary city of Samarkand….the capital of the Sogdian civilization…later conquered [...]

I am a Hematologist/Oncologist, who’s been driving my Porsche since 2010.

I have always been fascinated by sports cars and bought this stick shift 2010 Boxster S, a convertible to enable a top-down super speed drive. I learned to Drive in a stick shift vehicle at age 15 years and would never buy a sports car that’s not a stick shift. I am guessing most of you would agree that, that’s the way to drive any sports car.

I have been a Porsche club member from the time I had bought my Porsche (save, a couple of years in-between when my wife was ill).

As of March 2025, the Las Vegas Valley now has two outstanding Porsche facilities from which to choose, the original Gaudin Porsche Las Vegas located at 6800 Redwood Street, Las Vegas or the new Gaudin Porsche Henderson located at 7779 Eastgate Road, Henderson. The two locations operate independently of each other even though they are under the Gaudin umbrella of dealerships.

The Henderson facility is Porsche’s newest architectural design concept, designated as a 5th generation facility as compared to the Las Vegas location which is a 4th generation facility. The difference being, according to Paul Jarrett, General Manager of Porsche Henderson, is that Porsche Henderson is designed as a Destination Porsche Center (DPC). The primary charge of a DPC is focused on customer relationships in conjunction with great Porches! Customer service at Porsche Las Vegas has always been incredible but has been taken to a higher level at Porsche Henderson. Within Porsche Henderson, customers can [...]
