FROM THE PRESIDENT’S DESK – NOVEMBER 2022

From the President’s Desk,

After an action-filled September we have been able to kick back a little in the first half of October.

Michael Dugan, our Treasurer, has been organizing our monthly Brunch held at Red Rock Country Club. A shout-out to Mike for always taking care of the details. We want to thank David Soyk from Gaudin Porsche for his insight of the sales and service of our cherished Porsches. David was our guest speaker at the October brunch.

Our Drive Meister, Salomon Braun, is back in the country and was planning an October 22nd day drive to Overton. After weeks of perfect weather, the gods of the wind decided to raise a ruckus. Due to blowing dust, Salomon made the wise decision to cancel the drive as a PCA event. A few brave souls were not to be denied and ventured up the road anyway.

On October 28th, Meet and Greet with the Racers turned into unique event starring racers Sam Schmidt, Adam Adelson, Elliott Skeer and Premier Racing Principal Kent Moore. Also, racer Tony Mazzagatti, owner of the Porsche shop 900 Series with the TV show of the same name, shared a few of his experiences. Afterwards, Tony told me that he was so moved by Sam’s talk that he could hardly collect his own thoughts when it was his turn. I think all of us felt the same way.  A special thank you to Barbara Barron for organizing this over-the-top event. Due to her we raised over $15,000 for Sam’s Conquer Paralysis Now charity. And thank you to Kent and Amy Moore for hosting the event at Premiere Sportscar Service.

On November 7th we are looking forward to COOKING CLASS #2 featuring a recipe from Gary Ackerman’s family cookbook and whipped up by the fabulous Chef Dan at D’Agostino’s Trattoria. Gary has mentioned he might bring some hot rods to drool over. Can’t wait!

I want to thank Phil Reese for his nostalgic commentary From the Archives based on our Sandscript newsletter articles from our club’s early days. He has brought us up to date to 1975. A blast from the past can be very entertaining! Thanks Phil!
