FROM THE PRESIDENT’S DESK – September 2024

From the President’s Desk,

As we say goodbye to Summer and look forward to a cooler Fall, check out our upcoming events in this issue. I consider our monthly Brunch as an event, thanks to all of the interesting guest speakers we enlist. Brian Schmidt will be sharing information at our September Brunch about tracking your Porsche and what is involved in the preparation.  Our HPDE will take place September 28-29 at Spring Mountain Motorsports Raceway.

We are having a Day Drive on September 14th that will include a picnic. The destination is Gunlock State Park in southern Utah. It should be a fun day!

AUTOFEST is the largest car show in Las Vegas and will take place September 21st. Plan to sign up and display your car in the Porsche corral on the scenic 18th fairway of Red Rock Country Club. Last year we had over 90 Porsches!

October 5th is the date set for our annual Picnic Honoring new members. After a tasty BBQ our officers will discuss our club’s activities and opportunities. This is always a good time for our veteran members to greet our new ones.

I want to take a moment to clarify a concern that has been expressed by a few of our members. As you have noticed, we have started to place a nominal fee on selected drives, tours and events. As a club, there are expenses in keeping us afloat. We are a non-profit entity in which no one gets paid for their services. In fact, on many drives and tours, the organizer actually makes a pre-run to check for road construction, etc. without receiving any reimbursement for travel. Also, by paying a nominal fee the participant is much more likely to show up. It is frustrating being an event coordinator and either having a number of no-shows or a dozen extra people who show up out of nowhere. So, consider the fee as a contribution to the club so we can continue to offer a variety of activities.

I’m excited about our Fall activities and am looking forward to seeing you!

Reid
