A few weeks ago, while reading the Sunday Review-Journal, I was pleased to see that Las Vegas Region PCA member Greg McCurdy had been recognized as a 2026 Legacy Park Honoree.
Greg’s commemorative placard now stands alongside those honoring past and future leaders of Las Vegas’ Historic Westside, recognizing his lasting impact on both the community and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
According to the article, Undersheriff Andrew Walsh told the large crowd:
“Greg was one of those innovative people who found ways to connect the Police Department to the community.”
Walsh also highlighted Greg’s remarkable work ethic, recalling how he would arrive early to ensure officers’ uniforms were sharp and presentable and that every officer was prepared for the day ahead.
Additional remarks were shared by Las Vegas Councilwoman Shondra Summers-Armstrong and Clark County Commission Vice Chairman William McCurdy II, Greg’s nephew, both of whom spoke about Greg’s many contributions to the community over the years.
For anyone interested in visiting the park, it is located at:
Legacy Park
1600 Mountain Mariah Drive
Near W. Lake Mead Blvd. and Martin Luther King Blvd.
A Career of Service
Greg retired from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department after an impressive 30-year career, serving in leadership roles that included Deputy Chief and Assistant Sheriff.
Outside of his professional accomplishments, Greg enjoys traveling the world, gathering with family for Sunday dinners, and, of course, enjoying his brand-new 2026 Porsche 911 GTS Hybrid.
Greg’s Porsche Story
Greg’s passion for Porsche began in high school.
“I had the opportunity to drive a Porsche 911 and found it exhilarating and mind-blowing.”
Years later, one of his cousins purchased a Porsche 924, which further fueled his appreciation for the brand.
“We took a road trip to the beach cities of Southern California, and both the highway drive and beach cruising were unforgettable.”
Greg eventually purchased his first Porsche, a base-model 911, and was perfectly content with it—until his wife surprised him with a Porsche Driving Experience in Los Angeles.
That experience changed everything.
“I quickly fell in love with the new GTS.”
