Cool Mountain Roads and Porsche Adventures
Summer is officially here!
That was exactly what I was thinking as Dana and I headed north on I-15, hoping to escape the Las Vegas heat and find some cooler temperatures during the Puffer Lake Day Drive.
The dashboard showed a steady 110 degrees (and no, unfortunately, that was not mph) as we made our way to St. George the day before the event.
After a relaxing dinner with Mark and Trudy Wilson and a good night’s sleep, we joined the other Porsches at the morning meetup, ready for what would become an exceptional day of driving.
Scenic Roads and Historic Stops
Rather than simply heading up the interstate, our route took us through Enterprise and toward Cedar City.
Along the way, we encountered some road construction, but our fearless leader carefully guided everyone through the gravel section with minimal dust and no issues.
Before reaching Cedar City, we turned north onto Parowan Gap Road for a short but memorable stop at the Parowan Petroglyphs.
The ancient carvings tell the stories, challenges, and daily lives of the people who inhabited this area for thousands of years. The informational displays provided fascinating insight into these remarkable stories preserved in stone.
Time for Porsche Roads
Then the real Porsche fun began!
Heading east of Beaver on UT-153 toward Puffer Lake, we enjoyed more than 20 miles of beautiful twisting mountain roads.
Naturally, we did our best to straighten out a few curves along the way.
Even better, we were fortunate to have very little traffic, allowing everyone to fully enjoy the incredible route and scenery.
Once we reached Puffer Lake, we stopped to take in the peaceful mountain views before heading back toward Eagle Point Lodge for lunch.
After a great meal and more conversation, everyone was free to enjoy their own journey home.
Thank You to Our Drive Leaders
A huge shout-out goes to Stuart and Janet Shanklin for organizing and leading another fantastic drive.
As always, every detail was carefully planned, allowing everyone to relax and simply enjoy the day.
We truly appreciate the time and effort they put into creating these memorable experiences for our club.
Great roads, beautiful scenery, amazing cars, and wonderful people.
That’s what Porsche adventures are all about.
