- Comments Off on ATOMIC MOTORS RESTORATION TOUR
May 20, 2023, 9:30am
Have you ever been to Atomic Motors? If you have not, here is a chance for a guided tour of the five buildings in the complex. We will get to view the process that results in top level restorations on autos and motorcycles. They are well known for their paint and machine shops. Do you need fabrication, upholstery or detailing? They’ve got it! It can also be classified as a unique museum and art show. At the end of the tour, we will be treated with hotdogs and sodas!
There is no charge for the tour. Please register by noon on Wednesday, May 17th, so they can plan for us.

- Comments Off on My Porsche Trip to Spain to Experience the New 996 Turbo
By Val Dodd
In March, 2000, I was involved with a group of 40 people (14 Americans and the rest Europeans) put together by Porsche Travel, to test drive the new Porsche 996 Turbo. After a private tour of the Porsche plant and museum in Stuttgart the first morning, they flew us down the 1,500 miles from Stuttgart to Jerez, Spain, where Porsche had leased the ex-F1 race track for debut of the new 996 Turbo to the world. Our group was at the tail-end of a month-long parade of journalists, Porsche dealers, VIP’s, and others in the automotive world who came to review, test, and write about the new Turbo model.
The hotel we stayed at was adjacent to the Jerez race track, which made it convenient for access to our track activities which included some 30-996 Turbos along with other competitor models (Ferrari, Mercedes, Dodge Viper). Half of the Turbos had the Tiptronic [...]

By Val and Michelle Dodd
In 1971, I bought my first Porsche, a ’67 912, as that’s all I could afford. Then in 1973, I Bought another 912, a ’69 this time. After selling those 2 cars at about the same time, I bought a new ’74 911 Targa, which was my daily driver for almost 6 years, I still have it today (well after going thru 2 sons for a period of time with my 3rd son taking my ‘2001 Mini Cooper S!).
After selling my company in ’96, I bought a new ’96 C4S which I eventually sold about 2004. Why I still don’t know, but after experiencing Porsche’s debut of their new Turbo model in March of 2000 at an old F1 track in Jerez, Spain (long story), I decided I had to have a Turbo. Well this never happened! So when we moved to Henderson after my 3-yr gig in Pittsburgh, [...]

Our Porsche Club friends to the north have graciously invited Las Vegas Region to join in which should be a very memorable Memorial Day Weekend tour! Here is the invite that Craig Shanklin, IRPCA Southern Utah Representative:
On May 27, the Northern Utah PCA members are driving down to St. George and we will have a nice dinner social (all PCA members, especially Las Vegas, are welcome). The next morning, May 28, we will have a “tour” to Kanab with a nice lunch stop. All the details and registration

We would love to have Las Vegas members join the fun. They may not be familiar with scenic Kanab, Utah. We also have a discounted rate at a nice new local hotel in St. George.

- Comments Off on GLOSS IT DETAILING TECH SESSION
A number of club members attended a Tech Session on detailing at Gloss It Design & Detailing Center, on March 11th. We learned about techniques and products for keeping our Porsches in Concours quality. As Rich, the Center’s owner and presenter told us “you will never be the same with caring for your car after this session”. He was right!
A special “thank you” to club members Peter and Jackie George, for organizing and providing coffee and delicious Pink Box donuts for the event.
