As your zone 8 representative I was excited to share my journey with cars.
My love of sports cars started when I was in elementary school and my brother drove me in his TR4 from our home in Pennsylvania to Watkins Glen for the 9th U. S. Grand Prix race. Since then, I have always been fascinated and interested in all types of cars. Porsche came into my life in 2013 when I decided that it was time that I owned a convertible. A good friend of mine found this “perfect red convertible” and after driving it in Newport Beach on a sunny summer day, the rest is history.
Not knowing much about car clubs, or, for that matter, the Boxster that I just purchased, I joined PCA in 2013. At my first breakfast meeting, I was warmly welcomed and thought, what could it hurt to go to the board meeting. In [...]

Red Rock Country Club
January 19, 2025
A big thank you for everyone who came to the Gala this past Sunday. The venue was moved to Red Rock Country Club and Chef William and the staff treated us like Royalty.
The great thing was that we reduced the cost this year and were able to have the revenue from the participants covered the cost and we did not have to supplement the event as we have [...]

Many of you may well know already that our friends to the North in St. George have now migrated to our region. this is something I have dreamed about since my first drive to the St. George Cars and Coffee at Tuachan Canyon.
The people up north are warm friendly and very inviting. Since my first event with them I have talked with Craig Shanklin and Ken Hollman about accomplishing this dream. Reid, myself the two of them have chased this diligently for 3 years and now it is coming to fruition.
I for one could not be happier with this [...]

Happy 2025
Greetings to all you beautiful Porsche people,
It is a new year and as a result a new face staring back at you from the President’s Desk. My name is Gary Lea and I have been elected as your new President.
I have to say this is a serious honor and also a bit terrifying to come in behind Reid Smith who was a phenomenal President. I would be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge the tremendous job and the amount of work that Reid gave to this club. I have been involved in a number of groups in my years and I cannot say I have ever seen a more dedicated and committed president than Reid. That is not to disparage anyone else that has held the position in this club. As a matter of fact there have been other great people who have held the office, I just never had the pleasure [...]

The final Cars und Kaffee of 2024 was an absolute showstopper, held at our usual home base—the Good Wolf Lifestyle Co. in the Arts District of Las Vegas. In what was easily the largest turnout in our nearly seven years of hosting this monthly event, car enthusiasts and Porsches of every era filled the streets, creating a scene that felt like a holiday gift for all who attended.
The unseasonably warm and sunny weather certainly helped bring people out, but [...]

In 1996 I ordered a brand-new Porsche Boxster while living in the SF Bay Area. I was lucky to break with family history to own a P-Car. My Mother admitted more recently that my father, who was a big car and motorbike guy always wanted a P-car, but all she had to say was, do you really need that? That was the end of that discussion. I waited 13 months to take delivery of that car from Rector Motors, but the good news was the Boxster saved Porsche according to experts, and I went on to have a couple more.
Somehow, while living there I never joined the Porsche Club of America, but I did get hooked on going to the track after attending the Skip Barber 3-day SCCA racing school at Laguna [...]

July 2023 I had finished the rebuild of my 356 Speedster and it was time for a new project.
Research revealed a 996 TT was the best dollar buy ever.
Starting the search in ‘23 they were $39-45000 . Searched around didn’t see anything appealing. Fast forward to mid-2024 time to get the turbo.
What’s up…..to get close to a 996 TT the pricing went to $55-70,000 in one year. That being more than I wanted to spend for another project , the search began for a 996 coupe.
There was one in Vegas I had an eye on for 2 months , soooo I drove over for an inspection . Nice car silver but an automatic, let’s try it out. Took it for a drive to my shop
O School Choppers to inspect.
By the time I got there the car was leaking coolant like crazy.
Trophy Performance is next door [...]
