The February edition of the Cars und Kaffee event at the Good Wolf Lifestyle Store in the Arts District of Las Vegas was a unique experience for car enthusiasts. Not only were there classic Porsche cars on display, but there were also lots of great dogs in attendance. However, the highlight of the event was when Chris Sterle brought everyone free breakfast burritos.

The Cars und Kaffee event is a monthly gathering of classic Porsche cars that’s like a mini Luftgekhult. The February event, which took place on the last Sunday of the month, was a fun-filled day for attendees. Visitors came from all over to admire a variety of vintage Porsche models on display, while enjoying a cup of coffee and mingling with fellow car enthusiasts.

The event was made even better by the presence of many cute and friendly dogs. Visitors couldn’t resist the opportunity to pet and play with the furry friends [...]

What a gorgeous day in February! 21 Porsches explored the Historic Route 66 drive through Oatman with lunch at the Topock 66 Colorado Bar and Grill. As we arrived in Oatman, we witnessed a wild west shootout. After they dragged the bodies off the street we were able to proceed to Topock AZ.

By Ingo Scheer and Claudia Beaumont

At the age of 16 Ingo talked his father into buying a 1960 356 Super 90 which he still drives with his father when he is in Germany. After living several years in San Diego and test driving, i.e., a 1985 911 Carrera, a 1987 911 Turbo Targa, and a 1987 911 Carrera, Ingo and Claudia purchased their first Porsche, a 1995 993 Carrera 2, and several month later a 1965 356 Coupe. Their last addition is a 1975 Porsche 911 Carrera MFI (Euro Carrera) also known as G model RS which was imported from Germany in 2022. The cars offer different driving experiences. The 356 is a very light car which fascinates through its handling and the cornering abilities while the 911 Carrera MFI is a blast to drive thanks to the immediate throttle response and nimble handling. The 993 Carrera 2 which is the last of the [...]

High Performance Driver’s Education

March 18-19, 2023

By Michael Myers, HPDE Chair

Registration is now open for the LVR/PCA’s High Performance Driver Education (HPDE) event at Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch in Pahrump, Nevada. The event will take place on March 18th and 19th and will feature the long course on the newly designed Charleston Peak Track, which is approximately half a mile longer than the previous “north course” that was run at the November event.

New drivers will have the opportunity to participate in a full Driver’s School, while experienced drivers will have access to instructors to help improve their skills. The track map with passing zones has been attached for participants to familiarize themselves with the layout. Charleston Peak full course with passing zones.pdf

One important change to note for 2023 is that participants must select their lunch options during the registration process. It is important to pay close attention while registering to ensure that you [...]

VALLEY OF FIRE NEVADA STATE PARK via LAKE MEAD NATIONAL RECREATION AREA

Tuesday, March 21, 2023

The Las Vegas Region and Southern Utah Intermountain Region members are hosting our visitors from Arizona Region for a day drive. This should be an incredible experience, driving through the beautiful Lake Mead NRA culminating with a visit to the awesome Valley of Fire State Park. We expect 50 to 60 Porsches to participate!

Because of the number of cars involved it is imperative that we move smoothly through the National Park and State Park entrances. Those registered for the PCA drive must have a prepaid day pass or an annual (or lifetime) pass for EACH park. National Park passes are not accepted as Nevada SP passes. We have made arrangements with each park to [...]

From the Archives #13, March 2023

We’ve spent most of the last year reviewing our Region’s first year, 1974. Once we jumped ahead ten years to look at 1985, only to discover that poor attendance at Las Vegas Region events was the primary topic in most of that year’s newsletters.

Now let’s take a look at …April 1995. The big event was the opening of the Las Vegas Speedway Park, now known as Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Our LVR held a track event, in coordination with the Porsche Owners Club (POC). The new twist was that they did actual wheel-to-wheel Porsche racing on the brand new road race course. They held two races on Saturday and one on Sunday, and all apparently went well. They were described as “good clean racing and intense competition.”

In the May 1995 issue of Sandscript, there was an article about a product offering that looked really good pre-internet (yes, [...]

From the President’s Desk,

Here’s to wishing everyone a nice temperate Spring. This winter has been colder than usual and it seemed like every time it rained, I had to take my Porsche on a pressing errand. Then when it snowed, I really felt like the weather gods were out to get me.

The February 4th drive to Topock was a kick. When we hit the curves on the Historic Route 66 we were able to have some fun as we had NO TRAFFIC ahead of us! I’m sure those of us driving had big grins on our faces. Not so much for our navigators. When we reached Oatman things came to a screeching halt as there was an active shootout on Route 66! After they dragged the bodies off the street and headed back into the saloon, we were able to proceed to Topock 66 Colorado River Bar and Grill for a fantastic lunch.

Cars und Kaffee is a monthly event held in the Las Vegas Arts District that takes place on the last Sunday of every month. This monthly gathering has become a popular event for classic Porsche owners and enthusiasts, who come together to display their vehicles and share their passion for the German sports car brand.

The event is free and open to the public, attracting a diverse crowd of car enthusiasts, including classic car collectors, hobbyists, and local residents. Participants bring their prized classic Porsches from all over the city to show off and admire each other’s vehicles. Some of the rarest and most valuable Porsches can be seen at Cars und Kaffee, making it a unique opportunity for car aficionados to get up close and personal with these iconic vehicles.

At the last event, two of the highlights were an RWB 993 and a Ruf 993 Turbo, which received a lot of attention from [...]
