The final Cars und Kaffee of 2024 was an absolute showstopper, held at our usual home base—the Good Wolf Lifestyle Co. in the Arts District of Las Vegas. In what was easily the largest turnout in our nearly seven years of hosting this monthly event, car enthusiasts and Porsches of every era filled the streets, creating a scene that felt like a holiday gift for all who attended.

The unseasonably warm and sunny weather certainly helped bring people out, but we’re pretty sure the holiday [...]

Thanks to all of you who contributed toys at our December 8th Brunch. As you remember, we advertised the toy drive as donations to Toys for Tots. Our guest for the brunch was to be a representative from Toys for Tots, but he did not attend.

Marnie Cameron found a deserving local charity in need: “Unfortunately, after trying to contact the Toys for Tots representative, I never received a returned call. So, I reached out to the Clark County Foster Kids program who are currently running a Toy drive. They happily accepted all the toys collected and they will go to kids currently in the county foster program – about 3,700”.

We think we have found a good charity for next December!

Our Las Vegas Region Board members greeted members from Vineyard and San Diego members who were on a tour to Las Vegas November 16th. The award winning 1986 Carrera was a highlight of the gathering. We were taken on a mini-tour of Gaudin Porsche and had refreshments. It was great to welcome them and get to converse about our clubs.

Our November Mix & Mingle took place at Sammy’s Restaurant and Bar in Henderson. These get-togethers are always fun and offer an excellent chance to get to know other members of the club. We will take a break from our Mix & Mingle activities in December and January, but will resume in February.

The first Saturday in November marked an incredible Porsche gathering in St. George, Utah. Many LVR members attended this three-state event that featured over 100 Porsches! The Southern Utah members of the Intermountain Region brought us together to raise funds for Intermountain Cancer Center of St. George. We were treated to a tasty German themed brunch prepared by the hospital staff.

A big thank you to those who made this a fantastic event!

Our November Monthly Brunch ended with a new twist. UNLV students from the schools of Engineering and Computer Sciences have been working on developing their skills with autonomous race cars. They build and program the cars and test them on a closed race course. Professors Dr. Corey Tessler and Dr. Prashant Modekurthy explained the process and organized the students. Our club decided to purchase a track developed by FASTSIGNS in the shape of a “P” (of course). The student were divided into teams for the time trial contest. The track can easily be broken down and reassembled at different locations.

A special thanks to all of our club members who raised over $6000 through donations and sponsorships for this project. A big shoutout to Lynda Colucci for making this event happen!

Dana and I were glad to finally be able to attend our October monthly brunch, after missing a number of them over our busy Summer. The guest speakers have been fantastic. A big thank you to Lynda Colucci for finding such interesting leaders in our community to spend a Sunday morning sharing their experiences and projects with us.

What a crowd! Our Annual Member Picnic Honoring New Members took place on October 5th. We had a record breaking 89 Members in attendance for our BBQ feast catered by the legendary Road Kill Grill. We were hoping to enjoy mild Fall temperatures but not 100 plus! At least we had plenty of shade under the Pavilion.

Our officers took turns informing everyone about our club activities and members of the Gaudin Porsche team gave updates of the construction on our second Las Vegas Porsche dealership.

Spring Mountain September HPDE a Success!

By Reid Smith

The last weekend of September marked our 3rd High Performance event of the year. Although we experienced hot temperatures, it didn’t stop us from having a fun and uneventful DE. The 3.4-mile configuration of the Charleston Peak track at Spring Mountain Motorsports Raceway is truly world-class. Thanks to our leadership team, our HPDE’s have a reputation for safety and a focus on improving driving skills on all levels.

Michael Myers, who has been our DE Coordinator for a number of years will be stepping down. We thank him for his dedication and countless hours that he has contributed to make it all happen. He has truly been the heart and soul of our DE’s. We wish him the best, and hope to see him at future events.

We are looking for volunteers to step up and help us continue to offer HPDE’s in the future. Interested? [...]

HAPPY TIMES AT THE HOFBRAUHAUS!

By Reid Smith

Beer and brats can do wonders to lift your spirits. We celebrated Ocktoberfest with our Mix and Mingle at the Hofbrauhaus of Las Vegas. If you have never been there, you are missing out on quite an experience. A wide range of Bavarian specialties with German beer to wash it down. The oompah band was a nice touch complete with an alphorn introduction. Pictures tell a thousand words (maybe a few too many)!
