This month I thought we might look at our Region’s last year the printed Newsletter (“Sandscript”) was published. That would be 1991.

The February, 1991 edition reported on the December 1990 Christmas Party, saying that it had a couple of outrageous moments and was fun for almost all the participants. There was no report on who didn’t have fun. I was surprised that the Party was held in a private home, just as it had been in the earliest years of the Region. And there was no limit on the number attending (as was the case this past January 2024 at the M Resort).

Our Region had only 91 members in 1991 (I assume this didn’t count the associate members i.e. mostly spouses), which represents only about a tripling of the membership from 1974. (From 1991 to 2024, the LVR approximately sextupled its’ membership, on the same basis of [...]

It was a rainy, cold January weekend in which we celebrated our 50th Anniversary at our annual Winter Gala. At least we did not have any outdoor activities or drives planned. As guests arrived and signed in, the big surprise was that they were then ushered to our photo corner where we took their picture flanked by two gorgeous Las Vegas Showgirls! The young ladies are the same ones you see at the Golden Knights games, known as the Golden Bells.

March 30th – SATURDAY

Although there is no set race schedule yet, Saturday usually includes Qualifying and Race #1. Las Vegas Region is planning a tailgate lunch with subs, chips and more for Saturday! Last year, we hosted 20 club members for lunch. It proved to be an eventful day for all. Plan to bring a folding chair for lunch and for viewing the race.

The Turbo S joins the ’73 Carrera RS 2.7 while the ’18 Macan has gone missing replaced by uh a G63!

A year ago, I purchased my first Porsche; a 2022 992 Carrera so I’m a new member to PCA having joined here in Las Vegas. I’ve been a BMW enthusiasts the last 20 years and all it took was a test drive in one of my good friend’s 911 and I was hooked. The entire feel, handling and acceleration of the car was exhilarating, and I knew immediately it was time for a change. I was also impressed with the sound from the exhaust and the pronunciation of the decibel changes with each change. I love the color which is chalk. Other features are the full moon/sunroof, Porsche logoed headrest in the seats, upgraded gas cap, premium sound system. I’ve made a few simple modifications; suspension lowering including wheel spacers to accentuate the bold wheelbase features as well as added wind deflectors to both driver and passenger side windows to reduce wind noise.

It was a chilly morning as we assembled at Railroad Pass in anticipation for our drive to Topock AZ. A sizable group divided into two groups of 12 cars lined up and were ready to go. The drive to Kingman, our first stop, was fairly boring except for spend most of the time dodging sizeable pot-holes. Arizona should pave their roads! When we turned on to Route 66 the drive got interesting, especially when we hit the twisties. Porsches are built for tight turns on narrow roads and we made the most of it. We were temporarily delayed by an active shooting in the old west town of Oatman. After they cleared the carnage, we were able to proceed through town. I did see a sign that the [...]
