What a fantastic day!
September 16th proved to be a great day for Porsche fans. There were exploding heads of owners of all marques to see 93 Porsches at Las Vegas’s largest premier auto show along with 70 Corvettes and hundreds of classics and hotrods. Held at Red Rock Country Club on a warm but gorgeous day, LVR members had a great time catching up with each other and recruiting some potential new members. A special thanks to our volunteers who made everything happen!

September has been an active month for our club. Our Yosemite/High Sierra Tour started the day after Labor Day. We had perfect weather and some windy roads on our way over to Big Pine and then north to Mammoth Lakes. We turned the Porsches loose to explore the sites and scenery around the area and or course, Yosemite National Park for a couple of days and then headed to Tonopah on a very fun road. We will have to do this tour again!
The next week we had a great turnout for AutoFest. Although a little warm, many of our club members displayed their cars. There was some healthy competition from the Corvettes, but they conceded when a total of 93 Porsches showed up! A special thanks to all of our LVR volunteers and especially Barbara Barron for organizing our Porsche corral!
Randy and Martha Burba have stepped up and done an excellent job of [...]

- Comments Off on Cars und Kaffee: A Temporary Move and a Thriving Community
This month, Cars und Kaffee took an unexpected detour, quite literally! Due to ongoing construction in the Arts District of Las Vegas, the event had to be temporarily relocated a couple of blocks away from its usual spot at the Good Wolf Lifestyle Store. Despite the change in location, the turnout for the event was nothing short of spectacular.
Classic Porsche enthusiasts from far and wide converged at the alternate venue, demonstrating their unwavering commitment to the Cars und Kaffee community. The temporary move did little to dampen the spirit of the event. In fact, it seemed to have brought the community even closer together, as attendees united to celebrate their shared passion for vintage Porsches.
The alternative location may have been different, but the heart and soul of Cars und [...]

We came across a vintage and telling advertisement in the June 1975 issue of our Region newsletter. The ad offered engines (!), either complete or “basket cases” for the buyer to rebuild. They said they had the parts you’d need if you chose to do it yourself. The advertiser was Porschaus, which became Carl’s Place, and is now 900 Series Motorsports. Buit it’s still in the same location. Stop by and ask Tony if the ad is still in effect. I know of only 50 or 60 of our current members who would take the engine out of their 911 or Cayenne and rebuild it. Or their Taycan. Right?
The Region held an autocross at the Las Vegas Speedrome (predecessor to the current Speedway). The times of some of the participants are interesting: Fastest was a Lotus F/F (whatever that is) at 118.6 seconds. Slowest was an Audi (maybe [...]

My first and only Porsche is a 2012 Carrera GTS (997.2) that is the end of an era. The 991’s were about to arrive in dealerships only a couple of months after I purchased the 997.2. Since I wasn’t interested in being an early adopter of the next generation, I was more than happy to get the GTS.
The Carrera GTS is now approaching 12 years old. It was my daily driver for most of that time. In the beginning, I made relatively few changes to it, but as it got up in years, I decided it was time to make a few changes. Those changes include updates to the wheels, exhaust, suspension, side markers, steering wheel, stone guards, as well as numerous interior changes such [...]
